We need to think of the location, bearing in mind people will be travelling in from all directions it's probably fairer to be central, but then if there is say 25 or more, the west end will be packed on a saturday, hiring somewhere or more likely a room within somewhere may well become a necessity, what does everyone think?

Agreed, but there are plenty of pubs around Tottenham Ct Road that will let you hire the downstairs function room out for the evening.

One word of warning, near Xmas this kind of thing gets way harder to pull off...so if a room is needed, something will need to be booked.

O'Neills, Covent Garden is a great spot, and is grand if you have a big group. About 30 of us used always go there every Friday night. Mightae craic altogether.

I know the manager as well, so maybe I could wrangle a couple of trays of tequilas.

I'd be against hiring a room as I think that can mess up the atmosphere.

yeah that's definately the other side of the coin, no doubt about it, could we sort of take over an area within this place?

Edwardipov posted this earlier, i think it's a good location...

there are lots of good pubs in fitzrovia/bloomsbury. good points: the pubs will be quiet at the weekends, it's central for everyone, and it's near the uni so the pubs are used to geeks playing chess

DO IT!! If you know the manager that means we'll be less likely to get kicked out 😛

Isn't Bloomsbury/Fitzrovia a bit manky? How about a bit of class, and have the event somewhere around Little Venice (near Paddington, so quite central) - great pubs, £5m+ houses all around...oh, and extremely easy for me to get home from...

The first thing to spring to mind, since we're a bunch of nerds on a night out is: THE GAMES WORKSHOP.
But, I'd just get to playing warhammer and forget all about you.

Is quite a good site when it comes to reserving accomodation for sleeping.

Shav my phone (like many others of course) has a camera so if (or should I say when) you are attacked by some animal during the night in question (or alien) we can get it on film

Though even you could beat Freddie, Russ...

I'll buy you ten beers if you put a Mod button in my user setup so I can delete people's posts at will 🙂
I will have to bring my travel chess set just so I can beat Russ and have the rep of beating RHPs founder. We could make it a sub bet. If I win I get a free sub for a year and if I lose I pay double sub. 🙂
